Since day one, a portion of all proceeds from Tortuga has supported Rock The Ocean Foundation, funding more than 100 ocean conservation organizations to date. Along the way, Tortuga has been named ACM Festival of the Year three times, a reflection of not just the music, but the movement behind it.
At Tortuga, we believe we don’t just want to do good, we want to be good. That means being responsible environmental stewards of the beach that makes this event possible. Through thoughtful planning across every part of festival production, Tortuga has grown into the most sustainable large-scale music festival on the planet.
That commitment extends beyond the festival grounds, and that’s where B Ocean comes in, playing an important role in advancing our shared commitment to sustainability as the host hotel to our Tortuga & Rock The Ocean teams during the duration of the festival build, event, and load out.
At Tortuga, our environmental efforts are guided by three core principles: Reduce. Rethink. Restore.
Reduce: We minimize waste across the festival footprint, including banning all single-use plastic water bottles on site. B Ocean supports this policy by removing single-use plastic water bottles from staff rooms.
Rethink: Since the festival team enjoys an extended stay during the build, event, and load out, it’s encouraged for team members to bring full-sized personal products eliminating the need for single-use items. B Ocean supports this effort by removing single-use toiletry bottles from staff rooms to help avoid unnecessary waste.
Restore: Locally, we work to protect and restore the very shoreline that hosts us. Tortuga staff, artists, and fans have planted 30,000 sea oats on the festival habitat to promote habitat restoration & protect from erosion. Rock The Ocean hosts monthly community events that include beach cleanups and mangrove plantings. B Ocean is kindly supporting these efforts by promoting 2 upcoming beach cleanups on Fort Lauderdale Beach.
